About Me
The basics-- I fell in love with movement, specifically dance, when I was 12 years old, living in Raleigh, North Carolina. At 18 years old, I landed my first professional dance job at Busch Gardens Williamsburg while I was studying at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). I completed an Exercise and Sports Science degree from UNC-CH and got my certificate in Personal Training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2013. I then moved to NYC to study at the Ailey School, where I completed an Independent Study Program in 2014. I have since been combining my many movement passions with my passion for helping people. In May 2018, I became a certified SLT instructor in the Lagree Method, and received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification in December 2018. I started training as an aerialist in 2020, and have been performing Lyra (aerial hoop) since 2022. In addition to all things movement, I have also worked in management at a couple different gyms, and as a Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Trainer for the Physical Therapy clinic, Orthology. I am a story teller, an artist, a teacher and a forever student of life.
My personal philosophies-- I believe it is important to live as fully and passionately as possible. We only have this moment to grasp what life has to offer. We are extremely intelligent animals, with an innate and primal need to move-- and that is an incredible blessing! I believe that movement is extremely healing and that meeting our bodies where they are at creates an environment within that promotes growth. I know that our minds, hearts and bodies are intimately connected, and living in that connection and honoring it is important to become the best version of ourselves. For ourselves and for others. I trust in the power of laughter, and in movement meditation for the soul. This life is a constant process, a constant journey, a learning of what is changing and what is in flux and how we can move within that, letting go of unnecessary criticisms and negative self-talk, and embracing positivity and love. My culture is movement; dance started my journey, but I have fallen in love with all types of movement, from yoga and acroyoga, to lyra (aerial hoop), fitness and Lagree.
